LoveMusic

You may have noticed we have a couple of local music nuts here, so we thought we’d make the whole thing easier to navigate by dedicating a page especially to the local Sheffield music scene. Enjoy, and if you’re a local band or artist and would like to be featured here, email us at love_sheffield@yahoo.com

LoveSheffield’s current featured artist is:

Gavin Davenport

Gavin Davenport is one of those musicians who, through no little talent but clearly bags of modesty, has worked on a number of collective projects before coming out as a solo artist. But we’re glad he did. Gavin is a folk singer in the tradition of many of the greats, as comfortable singing an ancient ballad a cappella as a self-penned song with a group of musicians. His talents lie equally in his singing style (melancholy and engaging), instrumentalism (various stringed instruments – guitar, cittern, and concertina), and songwriting.

To top it all, Gav’s a local resident, so expect to see him playing more around Sheffield soon!

His recent debut solo album release, Brief Lives, is out now and available from his website here.
